You can't outrun what feeds on you...

Liz never wanted the trip. After a tragedy her family refuses to name, she is dragged to a remote West Texas rental where the desert stretches empty in every direction and the bitter wind never seems to stop.

And there is something waiting beyond the fence line.

At first, it is only a shape in the dark. An owl’s shrill cry in the night, or a shadow watching from the edge of the property. Then the doors begin to slam, arguments turn vicious. As old family secrets claw their way into the open, Liz realizes the thing outside is not just haunting them.

It's feeding on them.

A creature from old borderland folklore. A sorrow made of black feathers and hooked talons. A nightmare drawn to grief, growing bolder as Liz’s family turns on itself.

To survive the desert, the haunting, and one another, Liz must face the tragedy she came there to escape—before the Lechuza tears apart everything she has left..
